Good morning guys! Happy TUESDAY! Would you believe I wrote this damn blog post out by hand last night, and thought today was WEDNESDAY!? I even had a whole hump day joke planned out and everything, lol. I guess I will have to save that for another day ;)
I hope ya'll are doing well!! It's a super foggy morning here today, perfect for hot coffee and blogging, and I am super excited to share with you guys my experience with my love letters class the other day. Because holy crap, it was incredible :)
As some of you know, I've been stepping out of my comfort zone lately and trying all the things, and all the things new. One of those was to teach a creative writing class, which I have never done before. The first one was on love letters, and I hosted it in a local store here in Peterborough called You're Welcome.
First of all, I freaking love that store. They have helped me out with so much, from knowledge, to selling my novels for me, to hosting a book reading and launch night and now a love letter writing class. I cannot thank them enough, they are amazing. If you are local and haven't been into their shop yet, get on it! You will thank me later, #YoureWelcomePtbo ;)
As far as a first time class went, I had the most amazing time, really learned some things about the course, about myself, and felt my confidence grew that much more in terms of public speaking and talking to people I don't know. I know that may surprise some people, but my confidence level really isn't all that high, lol, although it's definitely something I am working on bit by bit.
I was able to work out the kinks, haha, in regards to the power point presentation (I have never done something like that before, and have Diana to thank greatly for that) and I know that next month when I teach this class again in November, it is going to run even smoother!
And since it was a really intimate setting with a great group of people, I really got to break my class down and run through it, and that's where I learned some cool things. I am always open and willing to learn. You guys, I helped someone with their wedding vows! That was so humbling and touching to me, I cannot even express to you. I shed more than a few tears that evening.
I really have a knack for the romance thing, it must go hand in hand with the novels that I write. I am super excited to keep doing this! And yes, in a way, this is tooting my own horn, but you know what, I think I deserve it. Who else is going to love and appreciate me and the things I do if I don't? I have come a long way and done so much, and I deserve to shout myself out a little for that. On top of writing my books and short stories, I created this class from scratch, and to see it come together so beautifully really is an amazing thing.
I am learning that it's perfectly fucking ok to love yourself, and to be proud of yourself, and you should show that off. You should also step out of your comfort zone, a LOT, and try new things, take on new challenges, and keep chasing those big ass dreams that everyone said were crazy.
I am going to keep teaching these classes, so if you are interested, please reach out to my on social media and I can get you signed up, or if you are local, you can check out the events page on You're Welcome Peterborough's social media site for all their details on upcoming classes, mine and others! My next class is happening in November :)
So thank you for reading my friends! It feels really good to be doing this, I just keep adding to my plate of feel goods these days, and I am excited to share it with ya'll as well. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being apart of this!!
